Hurricane Warning (hurricane conditions are expected in 24 hours or less.) 

You should: 

1. Stay tuned for official bulletins 

2. Wedge sliding doors to prevent their lifting from their tracks. 

3. Tape, board and shutter windows to prevent shattering. 

4. Gather things you will want to take with you should you evacuate. 

5. Turn refrigerator and freezer to maximum cold, and don’t open unless necessary. 

6. Move valuables to upper floors to avoid water damage. 

7. Stay indoors on the downwind side of the house, and partially open a window on that side. Be sure to close that window and open one on the other side when and if the wind changes direction. 

8. Use telephone only if necessary. If you have opened any windows, please make sure that they are closed and locked before you leave for any evacuation. 

9. Roll up rugs and carry to upper floor if possible. 

10. Artwork and photo albums should also be protected. 

11. Be prepared to cut off water and gas prior to evacuation. ___________________________________________________________________

The speed limit on Sea Island is 35 miles per hour and is strictly enforced.  If you choose to drive at a slower speed, please pay attention as other drivers may choose to pass you.  Passing is only allowed in accordance with Georgia state law. 

Sea Island is home to residents and guests alike with pedestrians, runners, cyclists, golf carts, cars, trucks and semi trailer trucks all sharing the same two lane road.  Please emphasize to everyone using these roads, the importance of staying alert at all times and paying especial care when crossing or entering Sea Island Drive from a side street.

The sidewalk is used for pedestrians as well as cyclists.  Cyclists – please let pedestrians know that you are approaching so that they may step aside to let you pass.  It is preferable for cyclists and runners to use the sidewalk vs. the drive whenever possible.

Dog walkers are asked to keep their dogs on a leash and to pick up and dispose of any waste along the sidewalks, in lawns, etc. 

When entering Sea Island on Sea Island Causeway, please take note of the flashing pedestrian sign right before the Shooting School.  When lights are flashing, drivers should stop and always yield right of way to pedestrians.  Likewise, please yield to pedestrians at the roundabouts. 

As you approach the Security, please take note of the speed limit signs.  When you pass through the gate, please come to a complete stop as this ensures the safety of our critical Sea Island Security Gate employees.

One of the time honored traditions of our Sea Island home are the Beach Horseback Rides.  Vehicles must stop and allow the horses to pass.  Vehicles should not continue until the lead horse rider has indicated you may proceed.  Typically, this is when every horse has made it to the path to the beach or the path off of the roadway back to Rainbow Island.  We appreciate your strict observance of this protocol for the safety of all.   The Horseback Ride times are posted in the Activities portion on the Sea Island website. 

We are fortunate on Sea Island to have the Security Gate at the entrance to our Island for the protection and safety of its residents and guests. With the cooperation of our community, the benefits of this added level of security can be maximized.

Every one accessing Sea island must be pre-authorized to be allowed on the island. Residents should take this responsibility very seriously in order to preserve the integrity of our security.

Access for Residents

Residents may obtain a parking decal for their vehicle by visiting the Sea Island Security Access Control Office (housed at the main Security Gate) between the hours of 8am – 4pm, Monday through Friday. Please call 912 638-5830, if you need more information. You will need proof of ownership of your residence. In the event you only need a temporary pass, you may visit the Sea Island Main Gate to obtain one or call the Main Gate at 912-634-5903.

Sea Island Membership Decals are also available at the Sea Island Access Control Office. You will need a current membership card and proof of ownership for your vehicle.

If you sell or are no longer using the vehicle with your sticker on it, Sea Island requests that you remove the Sea Island sticker before transferring or abandoning ownership. You may go by the Security Access office and they will remove it for you.

If you are using a rental car or someone else’s car for a period of time, you must obtain a pass following the procedures below for residential guests or you may show your Sea Island membership card to go through the gate.

Residential and Social Event Guests

For residential guests and visitors, the procedures to authorize the visit and obtain a pass at the Security gate are as follows:

The name(s) of your guests – please be sure to designate how many passes need to be issued (based on number of cars coming through the gate)

The period of time the pass should be issued for.

Your name

Your member number (if applicable)

Your cottage number

For personal social events or meetings when a large number of people will need passes only for one day, the Security Gate will still need a list of the individual names.

Independent and Commercial Contractors (Construction, Repair, Cleaning, General Maintenance etc)

For contractors, repair or maintenance technicians that are only coming to your property for a single visit, you may follow the same procedure as shown above for residential passes.

However, if you have an ongoing project that will require multiple visits from specific independent contractors, they must apply for and obtain an annual permit from Sea Island Security. You must sign a sponsor form for the contractors to obtain passes. If you have questions, please call Security Access Control at 912 638-5830.

For contractors without a business license (domestic, housekeeper or in home care), please click here to obtain the Sea Island Access Request form for individuals who are consistently coming onto Sea Island to help you in your home.

For commercial contractors, please click here to obtain the Service Provider Application.

These forms should be completed and returned by the contractor to the Security Access Control Office. There may be fees involved and that will be handled by that office.

Contractor Hours: Please keep in mind that Commercial contractors are allowed to work on Sea Island as follows:

Monday – Thursday 7 am until 7 pm

Friday – Saturday 7 am until 5 pm

No Sunday work allowed

Transportation Services

If you call a taxi, Uber, Lyft or any other type of transportation service, you must ask the provider if they have access to Sea Island. If they do not, then you will need to call the Security Gate and let them know the type of driver service and the address where you are being collected.

Please stress this policy with your guests as well.

Upon returning to Sea Island in a transportation service vehicle that does not have access to Sea Island, you must be able to provide identification and the address of where on Sea Island they are being dropped off.

For certain special occasions such as New Years Eve and 4^th of July, Sea Island may impose additional security requirements. Please visit the Sea Island website (seaisland.com) for information around those certain occasions.

Another wonderful benefit of living on Sea Island, is that the Glynn County Police Department is also involved in working to protect our community.

The Police Department will provide a drive-by house watch service when you are away.  Please complete this form (click here) and you can drop the completed form off at the Sea Island Security Access Control Office who will pass it on to the Glynn County Police Department.

The request cannot be longer than 14 days during any calendar year and your request must be documented.  There is more information included on the form. 

One of the many joys of visiting Sea Island is the fun of cruising around in a golf cart up and down Sea Island Drive.  The safety of our residents and guests is paramount at all times and golf cart usage is no exception to that rule.  

Please always remember, you are on a regular 35-mile-per-hour roadway with the side streets potentially full of construction vehicles making wide turns onto Sea Island Drive as well as cars and SUVs.   Make sure there is a licensed driver behind the wheel and make sure he/she is familiar with the law, which requires vehicles who cannot go 35 mph  to pull over and let others pass,  as well as these suggestions below about golf cart etiquette.

Glynn County is in the process of updating their rules and regulations regarding Golf Cart Usage on its Road (and this would apply to Sea Island roads as well) so once these are complete, they will be posted on this page.  In the meantime, however, there are guidelines to consider that are to be followed for the good of everyone using the Sea Island roads.

All Sea Island property owners who own personal golf carts are required to register each golf cart with Sea Island Security.  Golf carts must be parked in designated spaces throughout the property.  Only registered golf carts will be permitted to park in these spaces.

1. Golf carts should have parking stickers that can be obtained from the Security Gate.  Please complete this form (click here) and visit the Security Access Control Office during the hours of 8 am -4 pm, Monday through Friday.   The stickers should be displayed on the left front bumper and back right bumper of the golf cart.  Please bring either your current Sea Island Membership Card or proof of residence on Sea Island and your drivers license with you when you come to register your golf cart.  There is no charge for registration. 

2. Golf carts should have headlights and rear lights.  Especial care should be taken at night to insure that your golf cart is clearly visible. 
3. Seat belts are usually supplied in golf carts.  Riders should use seat belts whenever they are available.  Your life and the lives of your children and guests could depend on it.  Children should be kept secure in a golf cart AT ALL TIMES.  It is a frightening sight to see small children riding in the back of a golf cart with no seat belt and a loose hold when you are the driver behind them.  
4. Please pull over to allow cars to pass when traveling down Sea Island Drive.  
5. Finally and most important, golf carts are to be driven ONLY by licensed drivers.  ALL drivers must possess a valid drivers license and be familiar with the rules of the road.   
6. Rented golf carts are subject to these same rules.   Any carts rented must be pre-authorized (and decaled) to be on Sea Island.

If you own a home on Sea Island, any modifications to the structure and significant changes to the landscape are governed by the 6^th Amendment.  You will find the entire document under the “About Us” tab under “6^th Amendment.  This document was revised and updated in 2019.

Some important notes to remember:

Whenever a permit is obtained for new construction or remodeling, the owner must file an application with the SIPOA Architectural Review Committee (ARC).  

Demolition of homes require the owner to file an application with ARC.
